Rana Daggubati Calls Kalki 2898 AD The ‘Next Big Moment’; ‘Been Waiting For An Avengers Moment From Our Side’

Rana Daggubati is currently preparing for his dream project, Vettaiyan with superstar Rajnikanth. The actor is excited about the ‘unusual’ storyline of the movie. However, he seems more excited about the upcoming Nag Ashwin directorial starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone.

In an interview with Vamshi Kurapati, Rana Daggubati compared Kalki with Avengers. He said, ”The next big moment is Kalki. Nag Ashwin is a very dear friend. Not just India and the Indian diaspora but everyone in the world will connect to Kalki.” He added, ”For a long time, I have been waiting for an Avengers moment from our side. That’s what has excited me to be part of it”.

The sci-fi epic has generated a lot of buzz due to its star cast and similarities with a recently released Hollywood film, Dune. During his appearance at the VFX Summit in Hyderabad, Nag Ashwin said, ”It’s because of the sand. They noticed the film has sand in it, no? Basically, whenever there’s sand, it’ll look like Dune”.

Apart from the sand, Kalki 2898 AD was also under scrutiny after Deepika Padukone’s poster was released. Her costume looked similar to Zendaya’s look in Dune.

As quoted by Hindustan Times, the director said of Kalki, ”The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian and not making it look like Blade Runner.”
