What should you do, when someone opens up to you?
Maximum time individuals don’t open up in the fear of getting judged.
In such a situation, first things first, LISTEN to them!
DO the less of talking. Tell them that you’re sorry that they had to go through adversities.
Acknowledge their feelings. Don’t tell them it’s a phase and that they’ll get over it. Don’t tell them that “it’s all in their head”. It is not like that.
Mental illnesses are no taboos. They’re like any other bodily disease. However, we find it too difficult to acknowledge it.
Bust the myth that- ‘Depression Has an Age”. It doesn’t.
Childhood traumas, emotional blackmailing, abusive parents, or partners, a feeling of being a failure in daily business can make a person lose all of his confidence.
Let us all bust the myth that poor people do not get inflict with depression, and anxiety disorders.
The poorer someone is, the higher the chances of contending with domestic violence, crime, social conflict, homelessness, and unemployment.
All these factors contribute to increased levels of psychological distress, which is associated with common mental disorders such as depression and anxiety.
How far has the government taken this problem seriously? Do we see them suffering yet choose to unsee? How far is it potentially going right?
